I love the Steve Winwood and Will Jennings song, “Back in the High Life Again”, where they sing:
I’ll be back in the high life again,
All the doors I closed one time will open up again.
I’ll be back in the high life again,
All the eyes that watched me once will smile and take me in.
When I first heard this song, I was ready to open some of those doors from the past that I had closed. I had closed those doors by building walls around me, hoping I could protect myself. But the resulting isolation had become a bit too painful. I jumped for joy inside with the realization that the doors I had closed could open up again.
What if all the doors you closed one time could open up again? Would you like that? Would the joy that awaits your discovery be worth your time and efforts?
Closing yourself off can lead to things like depression, which I think most of us have experienced at one time or another. We were not made to live our lives “separate” from others or God. Our most joyful state is that place where we know our oneness with God and all creation. When we heal our issues of separation, the doors of our own fulfillment open to us once again and we start living the life that was meant for us from the beginning.
If you are experiencing depression, you may not want to share about it with friends or family. It can be even more difficult to admit it to yourself and you may judge yourself for feeling “down”. But as long as it lurks there, depression can block you from knowing who you truly are.
Many people think that depression is a punishment. If you think that way, then it could be a punishment. I have found, however, that that “down feeling” can sometimes simply be a learning device. When you can come to the point of loving yourself enough to love even your depression, you may be amazed at the valuable information it will reveal to you. Once you hear the underlying message and apply that learning to your life, that condition is no longer necessary and the doors open for you once again.
In my depression treatment sessions, I may use any one of a number of modalities I have learned through the years to help you come to that place of freedom in relation to depression. Regardless of any method I may use, I want you to know that when it is all said and done, the Light does this work. The Light is in you. So the One who heals already lives inside you. The more you awaken in your awareness to this One, the more you benefit.
Does that mean you will experience an instantaneous, miraculous healing when you come to my depression treatment sessions? I would not rule out anything with the Light. Do not be surprised, however, if the healing is more of a slow and gradual process. Sometimes you need the slower step by step process so that your consciousness will have time to assimilate and integrate what the Light is bringing forward for you.
What good is a “miraculous” healing if you do not learn about how you created the malady in the first place? Simple awareness is often the key to your unfoldment. Awareness and learning can prevent the malady from recurring again later, perhaps in another form.
My work is to assist individuals and organizations to grow in their awareness of who they really are or, in other words, to grow spiritually. If you or your organization would like to learn more about how we can work together, please contact me so we can talk.
